Electrical Problem Empty Electrical Problem

So the last time I rode my bike I went to turn the key to turn off the bike. When I turned the key the bike stayed on. So having this happen once before I assumed it was the ignition switch had gone bad. I got a new one in and still the same issue. So I took the ignition switch out of the equation. Hooked the battery cables back up and the bike comes on meaning all the lights and everything come on just has if you turned the ignition switch to the on position. I have looked at the wiring diagram and the wires go down to the alternator then over to the starter and starter relay then over to the fuse box. So I am at a loss for now. Plan on tracing the wires down today. Has anyone had this happen before?
