Katana ignitor area.. Empty Katana ignitor area..

Post  Kz900jim 20th January 2011, 11:16 pm

I pulled the ignition cover from the newly acquired kat 600. This area has an oil passage to let oil fill the area. I want to develop a programmable optical ignition system for the kats. So my question is, can this area be sealed? it appears that the hole in the bottom of the area gets wet by just oil slinging. I cant tell by any of the images in my manual or drawing on line.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

There is barely any oil in that area and it is in the lower area. The oil pressure sending unit and the crank seal are the only 2 ways for this area to get oil. There is a plug in the bottom of the cover that might be a possible spot for a sorta drain system to keep area dry.
